The exchanges between the EU President and the AU focused on the organisation of the sixth AU-EU summit, the two counterparts agreed to organise the summit between June and September next year.

At this meeting, they also discussed assistance for the supply of vaccines in Africa and the strengthening and revitalisation of relations between the two institutions.

For his part, Charles Michel reassured President Tshisekedi of the European Union’s support for the implementation of the EU-AU summit during his term of office.

As a reminder, the sixth EU-AU summit scheduled to take place in Brussels on 28 and 29 October 2020 was postponed to 2021 due to the Covid coronavirus pandemic19.
