The President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, inaugurated the first unit of the Mutuelle financière des Femmes africaines, Muffa, as part of the celebration of the International Women’s Rights Day, on 8 March in Kinshasa.
Located in the Somba Zigida market in the commune of Barumbu, Muffa is a financial cooperative created with the aim of promoting financial inclusion and providing financial services to low-income women in urban and peri-urban areas.
The President of the Republic took the opportunity to praise the courage of all Congolese women who fight day and night for the survival of their homes.
More than 200 women have already subscribed to this savings service, said Espérance BELAU, President of the Board of Directors of this mutual insurance company.
« The first unit of the Muffa/Barumbu whose building was inaugurated by the Head of State is the first of a series that the Muffa intends to erect in other communes of the capital and in the hinterland, » she said.
At the Zigida market, the Head of State was warmly welcomed by the women traders who have specially stopped their trade to welcome this initiative.
La Muffa benefits from the technical supervision of the Bank Afriland whose Director General was at the ceremony.
