My dear compatriots,
Our country is in mourning.
I have the great pain to announce the death of Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko, Head of Government, Minister of Defence, on Wednesday 10 March 2021, in Germany, following a bout of cancer.
I pay tribute to Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko, my son and close collaborator, who was taken too soon from our affection.
Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko served Côte d’Ivoire with dedication and selflessness. He was a great statesman, a model for our youth, a personality of great generosity and exemplary loyalty.
On behalf of the Government and myself, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to his wife and children, to the Bakayoko family, to all the allied families and to all Ivorians.
May his soul rest in peace!
