ADF fighters took several civilians hostage in the village of Mutuweyi, located in the Walese-Vonkutu chiefdom, Irumu territory in Ituri province, early in the morning of Saturday 13 March 2021.

According to Christophe Munyanderu, coordinator of the NGO Convention pour le Développement des Droits Humains (CRDH), these civilians were captured by the enemy as they went to their fields.

Some of them escaped and indicate that the assailants are planning an attack on the village of Beu-Manyama. For the moment, it is difficult to know the exact number of these civilians.

The CRDH calls for the urgent involvement of the military authorities to ensure the protection of the population. Meanwhile, at least 12 former hostages of ADF rebels, including 3 women, were released on the evening of Friday 12 March in Ndalya.

These ex-hostages are among those who went missing during the attack on Ndalya on 14 February, according to local sources.
